Viidesti Grammy-palkittu Ribeiro on yksi parhaista brasilialaisista rumpaleista. Ribeiron tuorein levyjulkaisu News on saanut kansainvälistä suitsutusta.
Winner of 5 Grammys and one of the best Brazilian drummers today, Edu Ribeiro is releasing “News”, his trio’s latest album. With the guitar/double bass/drums formation immortalized in albums like “Bright Size Life” (Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorius and Bob Moses, 1976) and “EnRoute” (John Scoofield, Steve Swallow and Bill Stewart, 2003), but with a drummer as leader, Edu Ribeiro, alongside Bruno Migotto (double bass) and Vinícius Gomes (guitar), combines this sound with his conceptions of composition and interpretation, always based on Brazilian musical tradition. In this work, Edu shares the authorship of the compositions with some of those who have influenced him the most in his music and career, such as Chico Pinheiro, Hamilton de Holanda, Fábio Torres, and also both his companions Bruno and Vinícius.
“I wanted to record songs that were part of my life, songs that I played many times in different countries directly with their composers, here redesigned with a new perspective that represents this moment I'm living.”
Vinícius Gomes, kitara
Bruno Migotto, kontrabasso
Edu Ribeiro, rummut
