The Sounds of Mexico
The Embassy of Mexico cordially invites you to "The Sounds of Mexico" – a concert featuring renowned Mexican musicians Horacio Franco and Daniel Ortega
This event celebrates the 215th Anniversary of Mexico's Independence with a musical journey that highlights Mexico’s Indigenous and Afro-Mexican roots, European and contemporary influences. The program includes works by Bach, Vivaldi, Schmelzer, and Dornel, as well as traditional Mexican Indigenous music and contemporary pieces by composers such as Daniel Catán.
About the Artists
Horacio Franco is an internationally acclaimed recorder virtuoso. He has performed at prestigious venues worldwide and is known for blending baroque, popular, and Indigenous traditions into a contemporary musical language.
Daniel Ortega is a distinguished harpsichordist, a professor at the National University of Mexico, and an expert in 16th to 18th century repertoire. Together, they create a powerful musical dialogue between eras and cultures.
The Embassy is grateful to Maestro Franco’s commitment to promote Mexico’s rich cultural heritage through this unique concert in Helsinki. His performance is part of a European tour supported by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
