Tattoos, piercings and other body modifications is an important part of self-expression. The documentary Body of God maps the body modification- phenomena through its legends, all the way from the 1940s. In this honest and intensive film, we get to experience different ways of changing the body, from needles and hooks to branding. Even though piercings and tattoos is an obvious part of street fashion today, this has not always been the case. The world's first documentary on this topic digs deep and the rating (+16 years) advises the fainthearted.

BODY OF GOD
(Jouni Hokkanen, Suomi, 2013, 79)

Tatuoinnit, lävistykset ja muu ihmiskehon muokkaaminen on tärkeä itseilmaisun tapa. Dokumenttielokuva Body of God taustoittaa tätä ilmiötä monen alan legendojen kautta 1940-luvulta alkaen. Intensiivisessä elokuvassa seurataan ruumiin eri muokkaamistapoja, neuloista ja koukuista polttoarpiin. Elokuvan ohjaajan mukaan “Body of God on dokumentti, joka kertoo kuinka pienen pervopiirin salatusta alakulttuurista tuli rock-uskottavaa kapinallista katumuotia”. Maailman ensimmäinen dokkari tästä aiheesta päästää katsojan pintaa syvemmälle, joten K-16 merkinnän omaava elokuva ei sovi herkkänahkaisille.
