In June Extra Version celebrates every Monday with a guest club Futebol bonito visiting on the 23rd.
23. 6. Futebol bonito
On 23rd June Extra Version turns up the heat with a guest club Futebol bonito. While smooth sounds surround you on the terrace, we celebrate Brazilian and Spanish football culture as djs are jamming away with two live matches projected at indoors mbar.
Futebol bonito combines new electronic music from Brazil with carnivalesque football madness as the World Cup 2014 is played in Brazil. If you like the games, this is truly a whole new ballgame. If you don’t, this is new club culture with new visuals and new sounds.
Football has never been just a game in Brazil. Jogo bonito means ‘beautiful game’ and this goes for both football and Afro-Brazilian Capoeira. The beautiful game means the win is never the most important thing. The ultimate goal is to play - and of course also win - beautifully. At this club, we approach beauty in new and unexpected ways.
We’ll experience two great games of the group stage of the World Cup: Australia - Spain at 7pm and Cameroon - Brazil at 11pm. These will be shown live on the big screen inside Mbar with djs Dobleonada and Samba Klaus upping the game.
And the games are just the start. We’ll see moving images from the carnival in Rio, too and from various Capoeira games. To top it all with something quite extraordinary we’ll see beautiful black and white photos of football voodoo from Benin as shot by anthropologist and film maker Veera Michaud-Lehto. Football voodoo is officially forbidden in Benin so please don’t tell anyone.
The sounds start kicking it from the sunniest Brazilian rhythm classics, dance their sweet way to modern Latin electronics and end the night blasting your mind and body somewhere around Tecnobrega.
